Overview:

Supports the Integration Management Team within the Enterprise Applications division.  Assists in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of MuleSoft- and API‑based integrations that connect ILSOS systems.  Works with team members to ensure integrations follow established standards and function reliably across environments.  Collaborates closely with architecture, platform, and infrastructure teams to learn best practices and contribute to ongoing integration projects. Performs routine tasks such as troubleshooting issues, updating documentation, and completing assigned development work to support overall integration operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise integrations using MuleSoft, API‑led connectivity, Java, and related technologies. Assists in building REST APIs, data transformations, orchestration flows, and integration pipelines. Follows established architecture patterns, security guidelines, and integration standards. Helps troubleshoot issues, perform basic performance checks, and participates in root‑cause analysis under guidance from senior team members.
  • Assists team members by completing assigned integration development tasks and contributing to shared project work. Participates in code reviews, follows best practices, and learns from senior engineers. Asks questions, shares findings, and supports collaborative problem‑solving within the Integration Management Team.
  • Helps investigate production integration issues and works with application and infrastructure teams to assist in resolving problems. Monitors integrations for basic health indicators such as connectivity, errors, and performance alerts. Supports routine maintenance activities to ensure systems remain reliable and available.
  • Works with architects, data teams, application developers, QA, and business analysts to understand integration requirements. Translates requirements into simple technical tasks with guidance from senior engineers. Communicates progress and potential issues to team leaders and project stakeholders.
  • Maintains accurate documentation for APIs, integration designs, and supports procedures. Follows organizational development standards and helps identify small improvements in tools, processes, or integration workflows. Participates in modernization efforts and learns new technologies related to enterprise APIs, messaging, and integration platforms.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:  

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of one year of college, with coursework in the computer science field OR 1.5 years of technical systems and programming experience OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Information Technology documentation.
  • Requires elementary knowledge of hardware and software, languages, and procedures to provide assigned technical and analytical support services.
  • Requires elementary knowledge of accounting and statistical theories, methods and practices.
  • Requires working knowledge of the devices for capturing data and the means available for receiving and transmitting data from remote locations to a computer.
  • Requires working knowledge of the principles and techniques of computer system documentation.
  • Requires ability to effectively participate in and profit from formal and in-service training programs.
  • Requires ability to analyze data logically.
  • Requires ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with others.
  • Requires the ability to follow oral and/or written instructions and to carry out routine operations, once established, without further instructions.
  • Requires sufficient oral and written communication skills for effective engagement with colleagues and internal users/customers.
  • Requires awareness and adherence to organizational standards for security, privacy and ethics.
  • Requires willingness to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license as required by individual positions within the class.
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
