Salary:        Salary $3,413.00 monthly - commensurate with experience

Overview:

Performs technical functions, for a variety of users, in the operation of Computer Output Microfilm Systems which may include Archive Writers, Scanners, CD-DVD Burners and Peripheral equipment; independently operates and monitors Computer Output Microfilm Systems, in the production of archival microfilm; operates microfilm rewind and desitometer to ensure microfilm is correct.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Independently operates Computer output microfilm systems which may include Archive Writer, Scanners CD-DVD Burners and peripheral equipment to create microfilm from digital images; starts, cleans and threads machine with silver and/or vesicular film; enters run parameters into microprocessor controls; selects optimum exposure values; monitors output to assure defect-free copies; takes necessary and appropriate action in case of machine failure or film problems.
  • Monitor quality of microfilm to insure it is of archival quality.  Rerun jobs if needed; make corrections to errors and report to supervisor if the problem cannot be solved at this level.  Sets up and operates microfilm cameras to photograph documentation for archival purposes. 
  • Inspects developed film to ensure accuracy; locates defective or unsatisfactory images; refilms defective or unsatisfactory images.  Determines the cause for defective frames and makes adjustments to prevent the continuation of defective microfilming.  Compares microfilm image to original to ensure proper reproduction. 
  • Independently operates microfilm cameras. Set up and operate microfilm cameras to create microfilm from paper documents.  Monitor quality of microfilm to insure it is of archival quality.  Rerun jobs if needed; make corrections to errors and report to supervisor if the problem cannot be solved at this level. 
  • Maintains records of documents microfilmed and camera set up; inspects equipment for any malfunctions; and makes minor adjustments to camera including routine cleaning to ensure high quality image recording.
  • Performs routine clerical duties including but not limited to typing, proofing, recording data, filing, and answering phones.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school AND one year of directly related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Requires working knowledge of micrographic reproduction equipment, techniques and materials.
  • Requires working knowledge of computer output microfilm equipment and applications and ability to identify machine or program errors.
  • Requires knowledge of general office equipment and procedures, such as filing, record keeping or indexing methods.
  • Requires ability to operate and maintain various types of reproductive equipment.
  • Requires ability to exercise independent judgement and initiative.
  • Requires ability to follow written and oral directions of some complexity.
  • Requires ability to use logical reasoning.
  • Requires keen observation, good vision with/without corrective lenses
  • Requires ability to carry out technical written and oral instructions.
  • Requires ability to assist in training inexperienced operators.
  • Requires ability to logically solve problems on software or hardware.
  • Requires the ability to carry 0-50 lbs.
